The Bronx nonprofit Friends of the Champ will be hosting a fundraising event next month, with all of the proceeds going to retired boxers who are having trouble finding a place to live, paying bills or covering medical costs.

The “Annual Champions Gala” will take place at Marina Del Rey on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Several boxing legends have been invited to the event, including Gerry Cooney, Micky Ward, Michael Spinks, John Scully, Iran Barkley, Aaron Davis, Bobby Czyz, Vito Antuofermo, Junior Jones, Douglie DeWitt and Mitch Green. Additionally, Guardian Angels Founder Curtis Sliwa will be the keynote speaker at the event.

In addition to being able to meet some of the boxing greats, attendees will have the opportunity to take part in silent auctions, as well as 50/50 raffles for boxing memorabilia and other prizes. There will also be a cocktail hour, an open bar and a sit-down dinner.
