Harold McBride went 1-of-2 from the free throw line with two seconds left in the fourth quarter to lift St. Raymond’s to a stunning, 46-45 victory against Rice in a CHSAA Class AA New York Archdiocese game at Gauchos Gym in the Bronx Friday night.
McBride and fellow guard Tyreak Johnson scored 16 points apiece and Sidiki Johnson added seven points and 12 rebounds to lift St. Raymond’s (11-6, 6-1 CHSAA AA) to a major upset of Rice (11-2, 6-1), ranked No. 1 in New York City by FiveBoroSports.com. The two teams meet again next Friday at St. Raymond.
Regis 42, Xavier 39: Alex Gallagher had nine points, including seven of his team’s 15 third-quarter points, to go along with eight rebounds and four blocks to lead Regis (6-13, 4-10 CHSAA A-Central) over rival Xavier in front of more than 1,000 fans at Xavier Friday night. Chris Coyne had 10 points, including eight of the Knights’ 12 fourth-quarter points, and Tom McNoble added 10 points for Xavier (5-11, 2-10) in a Class A-Central clash. Xavier won the first meeting, 66-41, at Regis on Jan. 9.
Archbishop Molloy 74, Holy Cross 69: Russ Smith scored a game-high 36 points to lead Molloy (12-5, 4-2 CHSAA AA) in a CHSAA Class AA Brooklyn/Queens clash in Briarwood Friday night. Eric Klingsberg had 26 points and Marcus Hopper added 10 points and 12 rebounds for Holy Cross (9-10, 2-5).
St. Agnes 89, Monsignor Scanlan 73: Javon Ralling scored a game-high 23 points, Brandon Whitaker had 18 and Anthony Resto added 13 for St. Agnes (13-3, 7-0 CHSAA B) in a CHSAA Class B clash in the Bronx on Friday night. Steven Scholkoff had 21 points, Anthony Lomedico added 19 and Brandon Hill had 14 for Scanlan (6-10, 4-4).
Iona Prep 76, St. John’s Prep 44: Brian Voelkel had 19 points, Andre Pope had 17 and Sandro Carissimo added 12 points for Iona Prep (17-1, 11-0 A-North) in a CHSAA Class A game in New Rochelle Friday afternoon. Terrence Johnson had 17 points for St. John’s Prep (7-12, 4-8 A-South).
St. Peter’s 63, Monsignor Farrell 35: Dylan McCann had 16 points, Chris Giordano had 13 and O.D. Anosike added nine for St. Peter’s (14-4, 5-0 Staten Island) in a CHSAA Staten Island content Friday night. Ray Navarro had 13 points and Anthony Keane added 12 for Farrell (2-15, 0-6), which scored just 11 second-half points.
Bishop Ford 77, St. Edmund 48: Led by Matt Hall, who had 18 points and eight rebounds, and Lorenzo Brown, who chipped in with 10 points and 13 boards, five players scored in double figures for Bishop Ford (16-2, 13-0 A-South), which rallied from a 27-15 deficit after one quarter in a CHSAA Class A game in Brooklyn Friday night.
