Stop waiting in lines for frozen yogurt when there’s none in the Bronx.
Peachwave, located at 602 East 187th Street, just marked 13 years this past month, where seasonal flavors, milkshakes, and boba are celebrated with affordable prices in New York.
Bronx’s Peachwave locations are special, such as on Grand Concourse Road and Williamsbridge Road; it’s not just a favorite neighborhood dessert spot, but also a place where Fordham students and alum gather.
For co-owners Lisa and Hector Rosado, Peachwave started as an idea in Connecticut, long before they moved to New York. However, the Bronx stood out to Hector, as he grew up in the borough.
“My husband grew up just a few blocks away from here, so he has a deep connection to the neighborhood and has seen firsthand how vibrant, diverse, and family-oriented the community is,” Lisa said.
“We wanted to bring something positive to the area; a fun, welcoming place where families, students, friends, and neighbors could gather and enjoy a treat they could create themselves.”
Opening Peachwave in Little Italy felt like the perfect opportunity for the Rosados to invest in a community that has always been an important part of their family’s story.
The Arthur Avenue location is distinct from other neighborhood yogurt spots in Manhattan, offering the unique experience Peachwave creates from the moment a customer walks in. Peachwave offers a wide variety of frozen yogurt flavors, fresh fruit, boba, candies, and toppings so customers can create exactly what they want.
Manhattan shops may attract more tourists and commuters, but Peachwave’s customers are oriented towards strong neighborhood connections, students, and longtime local customers who return regularly. “We know many of our guests by name, and we have watched some of their children grow up over the years,” Lisa said. “We aim to offer the same variety and quality people expect from a great frozen yogurt shop, but with a more personal, community-focused experience.”
After 13 years in business, Peachwave has noticed traditions that families and regular customers have created around visiting Peachwave.
“Some regular customers come in every week and have their favorite yogurt and topping combinations, while some families visit after school, sports practices, birthdays, graduations and other special occasions,” Lisa said. “It is especially meaningful to see children grow up visiting our stores and continue returning with family and friends.”
Summer is peak frozen yogurt season. This summer, Peachwave is excited to introduce its pineapple-and-strawberry frozen yogurt. Both offer a light, fruity, and refreshing flavor, perfect for a hot summer day. A great pairing with fresh fruit, boba, and other toppings so that customers can create something unique.
Something to look out for is their limited-time Mangonada flavor. Customers have really enjoyed this flavor in the past for its sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy flavors that scream summer.
Starting in late July to early August, the Sour Candy flavor is another fun option, similar to Sour Patch Kids, for anyone who loves bold, fruity flavors.
When deciding these seasonal flavors, Lisa pays close attention to customer demand and reactions.
“We pay close attention to what our customers enjoy, current flavor trends, and what feels right for the season,” Lisa said. “During the summer, we look for flavors that are refreshing, colorful, and fun while considering customer feedback, helping us give people something new to look forward to.”
When in doubt, ask for Lisa’s favorite flavors.
“My personal favorite is the pistachio flavor and Euro tart flavor,” Lisa said. “I like the sweet and tart options, depending on what I’m in the mood for, and for toppings, I choose our fresh strawberries, blueberries and mangoes, along with granola, almonds, kataifi and sometimes sea salt caramel truffles.”
Unlike some busy frozen yogurt places in Manhattan, Peachwave is known for its self-serve model, which turns dessert into an experience rather than just a purchase. Customers have the freedom to choose their flavors, control their portions, and add exactly the toppings they like.
Moving forward, Lisa wants Peachwave to remain a place the Bronx community can count on, not only for great desserts but also as a welcoming space for families, students, friends, and neighbors.
“I’d love to keep growing our community involvement, provide more opportunities for local young people, and continue introducing new flavors and products while staying committed to quality, cleanliness, and excellent customer service,” Lisa said.
