Dozens of Home Depot employees brought supplies and painted park benches on Pelham Parkway South, replaced the wildflower garden fence on Pelham Parkway North and cleaned both sides of the Pelham Parkway on May 31.

For more than three hours, Home Depot employees beautified the parkway in partnership with Friends of Pelham Parkway. Officers from the 49th Precinct joined in helping install the new garden fence. Local White Plains Road Starbucks employees joined in painting the park benches used mostly by senior residents for shade and heat relief. Even Einstein College of  Medical student Vincent took time from his finals to join in as part of his community service learning.  The Friends of Pelham Parkway also helped with the clean up work.

This project initiated by the Gun Hill Road Home Depot exemplifies what community, police, local businesses and schools can accomplish together for the betterment of the community and environment.
