The Bronx County Chorus is now recruiting new members for the spring 2025 season, inviting vocal enthusiasts to join this historic ensemble.

This organization’s programs feature a variety of different types of music, including classical, traditional and original. The Bronx County Chorus will also be celebrating its 85th year with a spring concert. It is the oldest ecumenical chorus within the borough, with members from across the Bronx as well as lower Westchester.

Those interested in joining the group are invited to audition on Monday, Jan. 13, at the First Lutheran Church of Throggs Neck, located at 3075 Baisley Ave. While the chorus is set to begin at 7:30 p.m., those coming to audition are advised to come early and meet Bronx County Chorus Director Miles Fellenberg, as well as other choral members.

Having a desire to join a chorus and any kind of choral or vocal experience are paramount to being considered for the group. While it is helpful to be able to read music, this is not mandatory. There are openings in all voice parts.

Each semester, the Bronx County Chorus performs two outreach concerts and one formal concert. In the past, they have performed for Amber Court Assisted Living and the Kings Harbor Multicare Center. Their current outreach program is at the Schuyler House, located at 3077 Cross Bronx Expwy. #1.

The Bronx County Chorus is publicly funded by its members and the Bronx Council On The Arts through the New York State Council On the Arts Decentralization Program.

Chorus members will have semester dues of $40 for individuals and $60 for couples and families.
