On Wednesday, Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson is partnering with Bronx Terminal Market, Montefiore Medical Center,and Waste Management to celebrate Irish Heritage Month at the Rambling House in the Woodlawn section of the Bronx. Sile Maloney, editor-in-chief of Norwood News, will serve as the evening’s Mistress of Ceremonies.
“From our bridges and tunnels to the iconic buildings that grace our New York City’s skyline, we remain grateful to our Irish brothers and sisters that continue to give back to their community and to this city each and every day,” said Gibson.
The ceremony includes performances by Pamela Geraghty and Aoife Fleming from the Loughran School of Music; the FDNY’s Pipes & Drums; and Father David Power from St. Helen’s Church. Honorees this year are James (Jimmy) Casey, Brian Golden and Pat Golden from Terry Dalton Jr. for Toys for Kids; Kim Furletti, president of Woodlawn; Siobhan Dennehy, director of the Emerald Isle Immigration Center; and Deirdre Sekulic, assistant director of social work at Montefiore’s Department of Social Services. This year’s Youth Award will go to Aisling Coleman, a student at P.S. 19 Judith K. Weis School.
