Yankees raise record $2.5M for foundation at 46th Annual Homecoming Dinner

The New York Yankees raised a record $2.5 million during their 46th Annual Yankees Homecoming Dinner on April 19. The event supports the New York Yankees Foundation and its outreach efforts, including youth, education, and health initiatives, as well as support for community partners in the Bronx and New York City.

The event was held at the New York Hilton in Midtown Manhattan and was attended by the entire Yankees roster and the Steinbrenner family, the team’s principal owners. This year’s total raised an all-time high of $2.5 million at the dinner, more than last year’s total of $2.4 million, supporting the foundation’s charitable endeavors.
The event was headlined by former Yankees manager and three-time Yankees World Series-winning catcher Joe Girardi, who received the “Pride of the Yankees” award at the dinner. Girardi, who played for the team from 1996 to 1999 and managed from 2008 to 2017, led the franchise to its most recent championship in 2009. He currently serves as a broadcaster for the YES Network.

Also honored was John J. Filippelli, the recently retired president of YES Network and a member of the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame, who received the “Lifetime Achievement” Award. Highmark Health was recognized with the “Champion of the Foundation” Award.
