Teen Dies, 1 Injured On Cross Bx. Expressway

Police are investigating a fatal car accident on the Cross Bronx Expressway.

According to police, a 2002 Honda Accord driven by Carlos Pereyra Batista, 18, was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on the Cross Bronx Expressway between Third Avenue and Bronx River Parkway on Saturday, October 21 at 4:15 a.m.

Pereyra Batista came upon a stopped traffic striking the rear of a tractor trailer before losing control and striking a guardrail and a Toyota RAV4.

His vehicle came to a rest in the westbound lane.

Pereyra Batista was pronounced dead on arrival by first responders.

His 17-year-old male passenger was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition.

A 66-year-old man driving the tractor trailer and a 29-year-old man operating the Toyota were unharmed and remained on the scene.

Police said no arrests have been made in this ongoing investigation.
