Murdered Mount Eden Teen Remembered

The Mount Eden community is mourning the lost of an inspirational 19-year-old man gunned down near Rockwood Street and Walton Avenue. According to police, Joseph Jimenez, a former student-athlete at Bathgate High School, was heading to his girlfriend’s home on Walton Avenue on Saturday, October 15 around 11:30 p.m. Police said Jimenez was likely mistaken for someone else when he was shot in the head a block away from his home. The unconscious and unresponsive teen was rushed to Bronx Lebanon Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Jimenez was a sophomore at Hostos College Community and a talented basketball player. A memorial was created outside of his house on Monday, October 17. No arrests have been made and the motive remains unclear in this case.
