Koppell alots arts funding

Councilman Oliver Koppell has allocated $142,000 from his discretionary Council funds to Bronx arts organizations that provide cultural programs in his district.  A portion of  these funds are for school programs that bring enrichment and the opportunity to learn a musical instrument to young people in district schools. Organizations that provide in-school programs include:

Music Outreach – Conducts early childhood music and literacy workshops in four district elementary schools where, “The children absolutely loved it!, according to the staff of PS 207.

Roundabout Theatre – Brings Broadway to MS/HS 141 students.

The Bronx Arts Ensemble – Provides violin instruction to students in PS 8 & P 56 in Norwood, where the principal spoke of the program as “Fabulous!”

After-school programs are being provided by the following organizations with funds Koppell has allocated through the Council’s CASA  program.

DreamYard – Directs an after-school program at PS 7 where students learn video production.

All programs have received rave revues from staff and students who consider it a “privilege to have been chosen to participate in these culturally enriching and exciting programs.”

In addition, Koppell’s funds support organizations that bring free or low-cost performances to area residents.  These include:
