Bx Chamber hosts women’s lunch, Mar. 27

As part of its commemoration of Women’s History Month, the Bronx Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its 3rd Annual Women of Distinction Luncheon on March 27, at Marina del Rey, One Marina Drive, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The mistress of ceremonies is Mary Calvi, of CBS2 News, and the keynote speaker is E. Gail Suchman, special counsel, Environment and Climate Change, Stroock Stroock & Lavan LLP, adjunct professor, Columbia University Law School senior legal advisor, Urban Design Lab, Columbia University.

The national theme for the 2009 Women’s History Month is Women Taking the Lead to Save the Planet. With this theme in mind, the 2009 honorees are Rachel Amar, Community Relations director, Waste Management of NY; Miquela Craytor, executive director, Sustainable South Bronx; Yolanda Garcia (posthumously), founder of Nos Quedamos; and Kellie Sepulveda, executive director, The Point CDC.

The Bronx Chamber of Commerce will also be honoring three female students from environmental high schools throughout the Bronx, providing $1,000 scholarships to each for their outstanding scholastic performance and community service. The scholarships are made possible by the Bronx Chamber of Commerce’s sponsors: Con Edison, Waste Management, MJM, and Magnusson Architecture and Planning PC.
