It was a burst of colors on Sunday, March 4 as the community joined the Vishnu Mandir Hindu Temple and Bharati Dance Academy for Holi, a celebration embracing the festival of colors, positive energy and the coming of Spring. The celebration of Holi, often called Phagwah, is observed with the sprinkling of colored powder (‘gulal) or colored water on each other symbolizing the breaking down of all barriers of discrimination so that everyone looks the same. One legend associated with the holiday is of Prahlada and Hiranyaksha which reminds us all of victories of ‘Good over Evil.’
