Bronx community organizations come together to host fresh produce giveaway

Several Bronx organizations partnered to hold a fresh produce giveaway at the corner of 4070 White Plains Rd. on Thursday, Sept. 12.

Among those involved in organizing the event were the Bronx Youth Empowerment Program, Eagle’s Nest International Chapel, Muhammad Mosque No. 7, the East Coast Regional Headquarters of the Nation of Islam and King Talk.

In addition to the fresh produce, personal care products were also offered to attendees of the event.

Bronx Youth Empowerment Program Director Andy King discussed the importance of serving the community and families who sought fresh produce. He also talked about helping to make sure kids in the community become strong and utilize their time and energy in volunteer work.
Another fresh produce giveaway is expected to take place within the next few weeks at the same location.
