Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson discussed topics concerning women’s health services and fibroids at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and North Central Bronx’s “Health Conversations” event on Monday, Sept. 23, at MetroPlus Health’s headquarters at 25 E. Fordham Rd.

Held both in-person and online through Facebook Live via NYC Health + Hospital/North Central Bronx’s Facebook page, this event allowed for patients to hear from medical providers at both NYC Health facilities, as well as Gibson, as they discussed fibroids and women’s health services.

Fibroids, which are non-cancerous growths made up of muscle and tissue that develop in the muscular wall of the uterus, can vary in size from as small to a pea to as large as a melon. The Healthy Conversations event allowed for those in attendance, both online and in-person, to learn about the methods of early detection and treatment options currently offered by the NYC Health + Hospitals health system.
