Super Bowl Watch Party

Nowhere to go to watch Super Bowl LII?

Then come to the Samuel Young American Legion Post #620 to watch the game.

For a $10 donation supporting the American Legion and veterans’ causes, you can watch the game on a 15-foot screen.

With your entrance fee, you are entered into a contest for a door prize. Drinks are available.

Bring your own food. The veterans are planning their own rendition of the National Anthem prior to the game, according to post member Joe Mondello.

Notable Passing

Donald Sullivan, 90, a resident of Silver Beach in Throggs Neck who grew up in Castle Hill, passed away on Friday, January 19.

Donald is the father of Diane Miller of the Bronx County Medical Society.

He was the father of seven children, as well as the grandfather of 17 and the great-grandfather of seven great grandchildren.

Sullivan was a veteran of World War II who served in the U.S. Navy.

Promotion At

Local Hospital

Calvary Hospital announces the promotion of Maria Georgopoulos to the tile of director of their Bereavement Services Department.

Georgopoulos is responsible for spearheading Calvary’s efforts to expand the hospital’s professional learning programs, expanding the bereavement services programs that meets regularly in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Manhattan and increasing the professional strength of the bereavement counselor staff.

She’s been at Calvary since 2005 and before that had a variety of positions and experiences in her field, including as a caseworker after 9/11 and as a case manager at The Jewish Board of Family and Children Services, according to Calvary.
