Grant Money for Graduate School

Borough native Wesley Close has received a scholarship from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, a scholarship and grant-making organization, to pursue graduate studies at Wesleyan University.

U.S. Navy sailor honored

Borough native and Bronx Leadership Academy II 2007 graduate Yamilka Carvajal was announced as a 2018 Sailor of the Year Finalist for the Naval Education and Training Command at a ceremony onboard the Naval Air Station Pensacola at the National Naval Aviation Museum on Wednesday, December 5.

Aviation Ordnanceman 1st Class Carvajal is a recruit division commander at Recruit Training Command at Naval Station in Great Lakes, Illinois, where she guided the transformation of 88 civilians into basically trained and motivated sailors, ready for duty in the fleet with minimal setbacks due to academic and physical fitness failures.
