The school invited Laurie Galioto from the TNBA and Kenneth Bonilla of the Penny Harvest. The student government presented a check of $400 to the TNBA, and Pereira-DeStefano reports that the students worked really hard to make sure that the money raised went to a local organization. Principal Ira Schulman joined the students at the presentation on Friday, June 19.

Teacher Retires

After a 26 years teaching at P.S. 14, Earline Joy Maynard-Reid is retiring at the end of the school year. A party was held for her at Throggs Neck’s Turner Club on Thursday, June 18. According to the school, over 100 attended the farewell party, including teachers who had left years ago.

It was a wonderful touching evening and many presentations by prior students who love and remember her true dedication to them. Her bubbly personality and her commitment to education will be missed.
