Rotary Club News

The Rotary Club of the Bronx ended the month of March, which celebrates the contribution of women, with the creation of a new award to be given to a deserving recipient named in honor of Beatrice Castiglia-Catullo.

Beatrice founded Regional Aid For Interim Needs, a senior services organization, in 1964. She has been a member of this Rotary chapter since 1987.

According to the the club president, Toba LaCrown, he was full of appreciation to the entire membership of the club for a job well done by approving the resolution in time for Castiglia-Catullo’s 100th birthday.

As of press time, Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. was scheduled to be the club’s speaker at their regular meeting on Tuesday, April 5.

Local Sailor Aboard

The U.S.S. Ronald Reagan

Aviation Boatswain’s Mate, Airman Travis Mills, who comes from the borough, is serving aboard the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan. Mills is the ships ‘Blue Jacket of the Quarter,’ an honor among the personnel assigned there. According to the U.S. Navy, Ronald Reagan provides a force that protects and defends the collective maritime interests of the U.S. and its allies and partners in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.

Airwoman Honored For Women’s History Month

Technical Sargent Maribelle Hernandez of the borough is a manpower analyst and ten-year member of the U.S. Air Force. She was recently featured in a profile article on the web site of the Aviano Air Base. She is stationed in Aviano, Italy.
