Young Thespians Get Kudos

The Irizarry family sent the following message of congratulations to a group of local, young actors who put on a recent theatrical production in Morris Park:

Congratulations to ‘The Morris Park Players’ on their outstanding production of Godspell, performed live on St. Francis Xavier’s school stage from August 7-9, 2015.

The amazingly talented cast made up of nine young adults, five of which were females and the other four males, worked extremely hard to make this play come to life.

They came together as a group of friends who shared a love of music and theater. Throughout their six week grueling practice schedule they not only worked hard but formed a bond so strong they consider themselves a family.

The play was filled with music, dancing, comedy, tremendous enthusiasm and a wide array of different talents. The amazing cast performed magnificently and rocked the house at all three of their shows.

We are so proud of each and every one of them and look forward to seeing them once again light up the stage on their next venture.

A special thank you goes out to the crew and all the people who worked diligently to make this production come to life.

But most all of all we would like to thank the incredible cast: Luke, Faith, Ryan, Bella, Monica, Julia, Maddie, Andrew and Gino for showcasing their awesome talents to entertain us.

You are all phenomenal and we love you. Congrats again on a job well done. God bless each and every one of you always!

Love, The Irizarry Family

Dance Students Win Honors

The management of the Performers Edge Dance Company sent the Bronx Times the following about their students:

What a fantastic season 2015 was for the Performers Edge Dance Company!

From the beginning of the season way back in January these dancers ranging from the ages of 5 to 18 attended the most prestigious conventions, workshops and competitions and came out winners. They worked numerous hours in the studio week after week perfecting their pieces that were choreographed by all professionals in the industry. The dancers both male and female attended three mandatory regional competitions working their way to do their best at nationals.

Winning overall high scoring solos, regional titles, choreography awards and more these dancers were ready for anything. In early July, the team headed to Kids Artistic Revue National Competition in Foxwoods. CT, competing against so much talent on the east coast.

The dancers did fantastic winning “Top Secondary School” making their director and teachers extremely proud. The team danced their heart out doing what they love making memories and new friends while leaving their heart on the stage. The dancers pulled together as a team and won as a team. One Love*One Family*One Team is what it is all about. With the end of the summer now approaching the dancers are getting ready for their week long training at the summer intensive. They cannot wait to learn new choreography for an even stronger upcoming season.

On behalf of all Peda dancers and staff we would like to wish the best of luck to our graduating seniors Danielle Medici, Crysta Martinez, Jorja-Rae Willis, Ruby McClellan, Ervin Bautista Jeremy Suarez.

A huge congratulations to our director, Stefanie and her new husband Anthony whom just got married last week. We wish you guys a lifetime of love and happiness.

Overpass maintenance

An avid reader from Pelham Bay called into the Bronx Times Reporter news line and asked what kind of work was being done along the Hutchinson River Parkway around Westchester Avenue and East Tremont Avenue. We reached out to the city Department of Transportation and apparently it is overpass maintenance and painting.

Strange Security

Morris Park Community Association president Tony Signorile reports that for a while a recently opened liquor store on Morris Park Avenue had what many assumed was a homeless man camping outside at night. It turns out, after several media reports, that it was their security guard.
