They’re rocking those boats!

More than 300 family and friends of 20 local Bronx high-school students gathered on the shore of the Bronx River in Hunts Point on Saturday, June 7 to launch two built-from-scratch boats as part of a program called “Rocking the Boat.” One of the boats launched was “Boatswain,” a 14-foot wooden rowing boat that was built to commemorate the life of Rocking the Boat alumna Mellissa Mulcare Boatswain, who passed away last summer from a brain tumor.
