Friday, February 26, 2016, 7:25 p.m. — Cops learned of a purse-snatching incident aboard a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus at the corner of Commonwealth Avenue and East Tremont Avenue. The male suspect grabbed the purse of a 53-year-old woman from around her arm while she was seated and holding her grandson. The woman’s purse contained an iPhone 5 and personal identification, which the alleged thief made off with as he fled on Commonwealth Avenue. Surveillance video and eyewitness descriptions point to a male teen, 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing a green jacket, black T-shirt, black pants and multi-colored book bag.

Tuesday, March 15, 12:20 a.m. — A 20-year-old man was assaulted and knifed by a group of suspects in front of 233 E. 169th Street. The victim struggled with the assailants as they demanded his cell phone. During the scuffle, the victim was cut on the shoulder by a knife, but the assailants did not get away with anything. The suspects are described as black men who were all approximately 20-years-old.

Friday, February 7, 1:30 p.m. — A crime of opportunity occurred when a 20-year-old woman left her purse in a dressing room at a clothing store at 271 E. Fordham Road. Another woman was caught on video surveillance leaving the store with the victim’s purse. Police have classified the crime as a grand larceny. They have arrested a 37-year-old woman who allegedly committed the crime.
Friday, February 26, 12:05 p.m. — A Hispanic man between 30- and 40-years-old tried to rob a woman inside an elevator at 3130 Grand Concourse. The suspect followed the 39-year-old victim into the lift and demanded her money. The victim managed to push her way past the suspect and out of the elevator into the building’s lobby. The suspect then fled the building on foot, running north on Grand Concourse. The suspect is about 180 pounds, and was last seen wearing a black jacket, gray hooded sweater, blue jeans and yellow work boots.
