The Bronx Walk of Fame stands as a testament to the borough’s rich cultural tapestry and the indelible mark its residents have left on the world stage. Established in 1997 by Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer, this hallowed stretch running from 138th Street to 170th Street along the Grand Concourse honors illustrious Bronxites who have made significant contributions to various fields, from the arts and entertainment to politics and sports.

The Bronx Walk of Fame proudly honors an esteemed roster of individuals whose accomplishments span a wide spectrum of fields and endeavors. Among the celebrated honorees are Mary Higgins Clark, Colin Powell, Chazz Palminteri, Karola Ruth Westheimer, Joseito Mateo, Michael Kay (the iconic voice of the New York Yankees), Regis Philbin, Tarana Burke and Robert Abrams (a former Attorney General of New York) and many more. These remarkable individuals exemplify the spirit of innovation, resilience and excellence that defines the Bronx and continues to inspire future generations.

For decades, the Bronx Walk of Fame has served as a source of pride and inspiration for residents, a tangible reminder of the talent and tenacity that define the borough. The year is now 2024 and a new dawn is on the horizon for this iconic landmark, due to a Downtown Revitalization Initiative spearheaded by The Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson and The Bronx Economic Development Corporation (BXEDC), with financial support from the State.

As part of the downtown revitalization initiative, BXEDC has been entrusted with the task of breathing new life into the Bronx Walk of Fame. This ambitious undertaking seeks to transform the walkway into a vibrant cultural hub that celebrates the borough’s illustrious history and showcases its brightest stars. Central to this revitalization effort is the revamping of all 135 signs and the creation of an innovative mobile app that will serve as a virtual guide to the Bronx Walk of Fame. This app will allow visitors, residents, students, and others to explore the Walk of Fame like never before, providing them with interactive maps, historical insights and content that brings the stories of the honorees to life.
