Police on Wednesday night announced the arrest of a Bronx man who has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal Mount Hope shooting in November 2023.

Cops cuffed 33-year-old Dante Williamson, of Honeywell Avenue in Crotona, and charged him with murder, reckless endangerment and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the Nov. 19, 2023, fatal shooting of Courtney Howell.

According to the NYPD, Williamson allegedly shot Howell, 28, multiple times at approximately 7 p.m. on Nov. 19 near Morris Avenue and E. 174th Street in Mount Hope, within the confines of the 46th Precinct, leaving the bloodied victim lying on the sidewalk. Paramedics rushed Howell to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Police say that Williamson fled the scene before police arrived.

An NYPD spokesperson on Thursday morning could not provide the Bronx Times with the circumstances regarding Williamson’s arrest, nor a motive behind the shooting.

The spokesperson said Williamson has three prior arrests on his record.
