The neighbors of Kingsbridge Heights met on Saturday, June 1, to remember those who died of COVID. The ceremony was held in front of three redbud trees planted two years ago at the corner of University and Reservoir Avenues in Kingsbridge Heights.
Funds for the trees were raised at the James Baldwin Outdoor Learning center’s community Farmer’s Market at Dewitt Clinton High School. The choir from the nearby Celia Cruz high school of music sang at the service.
Deacon Wilson Martinez of Our Lady of Angels parish invited the neighbors to read the names of those who died of COVID.
