A New York real estate entity announced Monday that construction has completed on a new apartment complex in Mott Haven — with a mix of both market rate and affordable units.
The Domain Companies said the new two-building rental development — called Estela, located at 445 Gerard Ave. — brings 380 market-rate and 164 affordable rentals to the neighborhood, ranging from studios to two-bedroom units. According to the announcement, the Estela complex also includes outdoor spaces, a lounge, game rooms, an all-hours concierge service, a workspace, a gym, a pet spa, a dog run and a children’s playroom, among other amenities.
The market rate rents start at the mid-$2,000 range and go up to the mid-$4,000 range. The announcement did not specify the price points of the affordable units.
“Estela will provide residents with an innovative and unique living experience with top amenities in the heart of the bustling South Bronx,” Domain Companies CEO Matt Schwartz said in the announcement.
According to the real estate website, there are various floor plans for different apartments. Some feature walk-in closets, and all have dishwashers and laundry in-unit.
The Domain Companies also boasts the new complex as an environmentally friendly building — saying the finished product includes eight electric vehicle charging stations and solar panels to help power the apartments. The company also said that the design of the building allows for rainwater collection to be reused for landscaping.
The announcement about the new two-building complex comes just a few weeks after another development in Mott Haven — called Bronx Point — opened its affordable lottery application. That mixed-use housing at 575 Exterior St. has options ranging from 30% to 120% of the area median income.
