Senator Ruben Diaz, Sr.; assembly members Luis Sepulveda, Marcos Crespo and Victor Pichardo and Council members Rafael Salamanca and Fernando Cabrera toasted several local Dominican leaders at the annual Abrazo Dominicano in New York on Friday, July 28 at Maestro’s Caterers. This year’s distinguished honorees included Luz Tavarez, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York’s Government and Community Relations director; Venecia Fernandez, Bronx borough director for Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli; George Alvarez, Community Board 1 and Comunidad Unida del Bronx founder; Henry Garrido, associate director of District Council 37 and Michael LaVallie, GVC Ltd. Bus Company owner.
