The Bronx saw a notable decline in robberies, grand larcenies, and vehicle thefts during the first month of 2025, according to the latest NYPD crime statistics. However, felony assaults increased slightly year-over-year.
From Jan. 6 to Feb. 2, 2025, robberies in the borough dropped 22%, from 395 cases in 2024 to 308 in 2025. The 52nd Precinct, covering Bedford Park, Fordham, Kingsbridge, Norwood, Bronx Park, and University Heights, recorded the most significant decrease among the Bronx’s 12 precincts, with reported cases falling from 45 to 21.
During the same 28-day period, grand larcenies declined 13.6%, from 719 cases in 2024 to 621 in 2025. The 49th Precinct, which oversees Allerton, Morris Park, Van Nest, Pelham Parkway, Eastchester Gardens, and Pelham Gardens, saw the largest drop, with cases decreasing from 80 to 54.
Vehicle thefts also saw a decline, dropping 11.8% from 331 cases in 2024 to 292 in 2025. The 52nd Precinct played a key role in this decrease, with reported cases plummeting from 41 to 15.
Felony assaults were the only major crime to rise in reported cases across the Bronx. The borough saw a 2.3% increase, from 529 cases in 2024 to 541 in 2025. Once again, the 52nd Precinct saw the largest change, though this time it was an increase—reported cases there rose from 39 to 53.
Overall, major crimes—including murder, rape, robbery, felony assault, burglary, grand larceny, and vehicle theft—declined 9.62% year-over-year in the Bronx. The total number of reported cases during the 28-day period ending Feb. 2 dropped from 2,225 in 2024 to 2,011 in 2025.
