Good Luck Graduate

Xavier Jackson of Norwood is graduating from Bronx Engineering & Technology Academy second in his class, with 94% average. Xavier, after being accepted to six schools across the country, has decided to attend Trinity College in Hartford, CT on a full academic scholarship. At Trinity, Xavier will major in Engineering and minor in Urban Studies and has been accepted in The Cities Program within the college’s Center for Urban and Global Studies.

Remembering Doris

Doris Lorraine Files Natella was born in the borough on September 19, 1923.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Adam Natella; brother, David Files; sister-in-law, Margaret Anna Werner-Files; nephew, Richard Files; and long time companion, Kenneth Nelson.

Doris had a long career with the American Bank Note Company in the Bronx before retiring to live in Hawley, PA with her brother and sister-in-law.

Dr. John Morley

She was very active with the AMVETS, and enjoyed all forms of crafting hobbies, and she had a keen eye for any craft project.

She was an absolutely incredible cook – so many family celebrations revolved around her meals

She is survived by her niece and goddaughter, Doris Tancredi and her husband Michael; nephew, Robert Files and his wife Andrea; nephew, David Files; and nine grand nieces and nephews: Robert Files, wife Cara and great-grand nephew Anthony; Briana Files-Warman, husband Jon and great-grand niece, Alena; Christina Files, Kali Files-Eichas and husband Adam, Colby Thompson, Matthew Files, Shannon Files, Kevin Files and Courtney Thompson.

Doris is also survived by her lifelong friend of 85 years, Theresa (Mascia) Gertz, originally from Harlem, and Theresa’s four children – Linda, Donna, Judy and Richard and their families.

Interment was held at Woodlawn Cemetery on Saturday, April 11.
