Vigil Held For Late Golden Krust Founder

The snow didn’t prevent Bronxites from attending the somber candlelight vigil.

Relatives, friends, co-workers and many others paid their respects to the late Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery and Grill founder Lowell Hawthorne on Saturday, December 9 at the first Golden Krust store he opened at 1381 E. Gun Hill Road.

Hawthorne, 57, died of a single self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head in his office at 3958 Park Avenue on the night of Saturday, December 2.
