Rising seniors Christina Castillo (Class of 2025) and Nicole Duarte (Class of 2025) were both named first-place winners of the Bronx Women’s Bar Association (BXWBA) 2024 Gala Essay Competition in June.
History Dept. Chairperson and global history teacher to the junior class, Ms. Eugenia Wolovich (Class of 2010) invited her female students to participate. More than 15 pupils entered the contest and submitted essays on obstacles they have faced as young women and the qualities and characteristics they possess that have helped them overcome those issues.
As winners, Christina and Nicole were invited to attend the BXWBA Gala Dinner on June 13 at Marina Del Rey alongside other members of the Bronx Women’s Bar Association. Alumna Valerie Casali ’09 was sworn in as President of the BXWBA that evening.
