Bronxites ate, drank and were merry while celebrating a centuries old Italian tradition in Belmont’s ‘Little Italy’ on Sunday, September 8. Hosted by the Belmont Business Improvement District, the festival honored the Ferragosto tradition dating back to the Roman Empire which recognizes the end of the harvest season. This year’s edition featured loads of delicious Italian cuisine and live performances from Elio Scaccio, Nick Vero, Natalie Pinto, Ragdoll, Commedia Dell’Arte, RockSteady and Bob Bisaccia.

Aisia Cortes sold superb Italian pastries.
Ceasar could barely keep up with hungry festival attendants’ demand for hot or sweet sausage.
Roberto Rencon (r) sliced rotisseried pork to order.
Tony Andriola displayed one of the many varieties of Torrone in his stall.
Gianni Succi prepared piadina, a traditional flat bread, with prosciutto and mozzarella.
