Police Blotter: NYPD activity filed for the week of March 6

-The following are crime reports and arrests filed by the NYPD’s police precincts in the Bronx.

42nd Precinct

— On Friday, March 3, at approximately 11:45 p.m., an unknown male entered YAYA Deli and Grocery, located at 851 Melrose Ave, and displayed a black firearm at a 47-year-old male employee while demanding money. The suspect then removed approximately $1,200, cigarettes and random merchandise. The individual fled the location on a scooter westbound on East 160th Street. There were no reported injuries and the suspect is described as a male, 6’2” and approximately 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white jump suit, a black sweatshirt, black pants, black gloves and a black facemask.

This incident is being investigated in connection to a March 3 homicide reported in Manhattan’s 19th Precinct. On that date, at 11:28 p.m. police responded to a 911 call of a male shot inside of 201 E. 81 St. Upon arrival police discovered a 67-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the head. EMS responded and pronounced the victim dead.

The identity of the deceased will be released pending notification of the family. There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.

— It was reported to police that on Sunday, Feb. 26,  at approximately 2:50 a.m., a 28-year-old female was aboard a northbound “2” train approaching the 50th Street subway station when an unidentified individual removed the victim’s purse from her lap and fled on foot.

— On Wednesday, March 1, at approximately 11:39 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of an assault in front of 680 Tinton Ave. Upon arrival, officers observed a 51-year-old male, unconscious with a stab wound to the neck. EMS responded and transported the aided male to NYC & Health & Hospitals/Lincoln where he was later pronounced dead. There are no arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.

The deceased has been identified as Derrick Hamlin of East 156th Street. 

43rd Precinct

— On Tuesday, Feb. 21, at approximately 9:18 p.m., three males approached a 14-year-old male in front of 1995 Westchester Ave. and started a conversation. The individuals then punched the victim in the head and forcibly removed his cellphone. The suspects fled on foot. The victim sustained minor injuries and refused medical attention.

One of the individuals was apprehended. The outstanding suspects are described as males, medium complexion and approximately 18-to-20 years old. 

One suspect was seen wearing a blue jacket, black sweatpants and white sneakers. The second remains suspect at-large was last seen wearing a black jacket, black sweatpants, white sneakers and a blue Yankees baseball cap.

— On Sunday, Feb. 26, at approximately 3:45 a.m., an unknown male individual approached a 27-year-old male inside of the Morrison Avenue-Soundview subway station and asked for money. When the victim stated he didn’t have money, the individual followed him to the southbound “6” train platform. The suspect then threw the victim to the ground, while kicking and punching him in the face and body. A second male suspect approached and pulled out a black firearm while placing it against the victim’s head. The individual with the firearm then removed the victim’s wallet from his pants pocket. Both individuals exited the station and fled in an unknown direction.

44th Precinct

— On Wednesday, Feb. 15, at approximately 3:20 a.m.,  an unknown individual forced entry into First Ghana SDA Church, located at 45 Goble Place. No property was removed from the premise but there was $250 in damage to a door. The individual fled southbound on Macomb’s Road. There were no injuries reported. The suspect is described as male, medium complexion, approximately 5’6” and last seen wearing a blue jacket and black sneakers.

— On Sunday, Feb. 26, at approximately 1:15 a.m., three males entered Karan Convenience Deli, located at 1115 Jerome Ave., and pulled out a black firearm while aiming it at a store employee. One of the individuals then went behind the counter and removed cash and merchandise. The three suspects fled on foot southbound on Jerome Avenue. There were no reported injuries.

— On Saturday, Feb. 25, at approximately 2:53 a.m., a 20-year-old male was having a dispute with an unknown male individual in front of 1063 Teller Ave. when he was struck in the face and fell to the ground. A second unknown male individual then struck the victim multiple times while he was on the ground. Another 20-year-old male attempted to intervene and break up the fight when the two individuals attacked him, striking him several times in the face. The individuals then forcibly removed the victims’ cell phones, sweaters and a wallet. Both victims sustained injuries to their head as a result of the incident. The individuals fled westbound on East 166th Street with the stolen property.

46th Precinct

— On Friday, March 3, at approximately 12:45 a.m., a 51-year-old male was at the Gulf Gas Station located at 1805 Webster Ave. pumping gas into his vehicle. An unidentified male individual drove up to the pumps in a white Mercedes Benz, exits his vehicle, approached the victim and attempted to remove his chain from around his neck while pointing a firearm. The victim then sprayed the male with gasoline and the male discharged the firearm towards the victim striking him once in the face. The male individual then entered his vehicle and fled to parts unknown. The victim was removed to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical but stable condition. 

The individual is described as a male, dark complexion, approximately in his 30’s, thin build, 5’11” tall and 180 -190 pounds.

47th Precinct

— It was reported to police on Feb. 27, at approximately 6:23 a.m. at the corner of East 213 Street and Barnes Avenue, that three individuals discharged 15 rounds from their firearms into a victim’s parked vehicle. The individuals fled northbound on Barnes Avenue in a white Mercury Marquis 4-door sedan being driven by a fourth suspect. The victim’s vehicle was vacant at the time of this incident and there have been no reported injuries.

The first sought individual is described as a male, light-medium complexion, last seen wearing a black jacket, black jeans and red sneakers.The second sought individual is described as a male, light-medium complexion, last seen wearing a black jacket, black jeans and black sneakers. The third sought individual is described as a male, light-medium complexion, last seen wearing a red and black jacket, blue jeans and blue sneakers. The fourth sought individual is described as a male, last seen wearing a black jacket, black jeans and blue and black sneakers.

— It was reported to police that on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at 8:22 p.m. at the corner of Katonah Avenue and East 235th Street, an unidentified male met a 29-year-old male victim at the location. The male expressed interest on Facebook market to purchase the victim’s Apple MacBook. Upon meeting, the victim showed the suspect the laptop when the suspect grabbed the item and fled on foot without paying. The victim chased the suspect and sustained bruising and scratches after a physical altercation in an attempt to regain his property. The suspect fled with the property in a dark colored BMW.
