Dr. Daniel Weiser, pediatric oncologist at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, received a $198,000 research grant from the New York Community Trust to further develop a novel new liquid biopsy test that can detect cancer in the blood of patients with osteosarcoma, an aggressive bone cancer that is difficult to treat. The liquid biopsy test, a non-invasive blood test developed by Dr. Weiser and his team, aims to identify when even a small amount of tumor is present and not yet evident through radiologic imaging.
