For 20 years Vincent Rada, a paralegal from Parkchester, has volunteered his time every Sunday to package food at God’s Love We Deliver, an organization that distributes nutritious meals to those who cannot shop or cook for themselves due to serious maladies.

“I help the chefs in our kitchen prepare packaged meals to be sent out to clients,” said Rada. “We help chop vegetables and sometimes we pack the meals before they get shipped out.”

The organization, initially delivered meals to those who were homebound, suffering from HIV/AIDS.

Now it delivers directly to the home of individuals afflicted with 200 different types of impairments, said a God’s Love We Deliver volunteer.

If a person has an illness they weren’t born with, God’s Love We Deliver works with that client, said a spokesperson.

Rada said he first became aware of the organization when he watched a newscast about God’s Love We Deliver’s work.

“I had lost friends of mine to the HIV epidemic, and some of them didn’t have family,” said Rada, adding “This just felt like the place to be.”

The meals themselves can be arranged 15 different ways to suit the client’s dietary needs. The organization delivers at least 25 percent of its meals in the borough.

The organization currently delivers to 1,815 Bronxites and relies heavily on volunteers like Rada.
