Detectives have arrested and charged three men in connection with the shooting death of a Bronx man earlier this month, police announced Sunday.

Police arrested Carlos Hernandez Ortiz, 44, Jose Suarez, 42, and Julio Suarez, 54, on Tuesday, March 19, at approximately 7:55 p.m., for allegedly shooting Alexis Ramirez, 47, to death on March 16, law enforcement sources said.

At approximately 9:40 p.m. that evening, officers from the 46th Precinct responded to several 911 calls of a person shot in front of 2311 Morris Ave. in Fordham, where they found the bloodied Ramirez riddled with gunshot wounds throughout his body, police said.

EMS brought the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The suspects were arrested in the Bronx within the confines of the 46th Precinct. It is not clear right now how the suspects were apprehended, or if Jose Suarez and Julio Suarez are related, but all are facing charges of murder, manslaughter, gang assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

The investigation remains ongoing.
