The NYPD arrested a man who they say fatally shot someone on a Morrisania street earlier this month.

Aaron Rene, 30, was cuffed on Tuesday for allegedly killing 31-year-old Marquis Lane on Feb. 7.

At 8:52 a.m. that morning, police responded to a 911 call regarding shots fired at the intersection of Park Avenue and East 167th Street. Upon their arrival, officers found Lane unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound to his chest.

Reports indicate that prior to the shooting, Lane was in an argument with his two-year-old son’s mother, who is also his ex-girlfriend, when Rene allegedly shot him. The Daily News reports that Lane’s son was also present at the shooting.

Lane was rushed to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was pronounced dead.

At this time, police could not confirm a motive or any prior connection between Rene and Lane. Rene was charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.
