Community Health Fair: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Northeast Bronx YMCA

Bronx Alumnae Chapter in partnership with the Williamsbridage Branch NAACP and Ridgewood Bank are hosting a community health fair this Saturday. The event is free and will offer free health screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and much more. If you’re in need of a mammogram you can pre-register as they will be offering mobile mammograms. The event will also highlight mental wellness, cancer awareness and COVID-19.

The 20th anniversary of the Hunts Point Fish Parade & Arts Festival: 12 p.m.-5 p.m. at THE POINT Community Development Corporation

The Fish Parade & Arts Festival is an annual procession through Hunts Point connecting the community to the Bronx River. The parade combines activism, joy and community building to culminate into an enjoyable parade for the whole family. This parade marks the 20-year anniversary of the parade, and will honor the achievements and struggles of the events predecessors. This year’s celebration includes fish puppets leading the parade. The fish serve as a symbol of hope, life and resilience.

Film and Archive Screening: Cosmos Gate and Azul II: 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at The Bronx Museum of the Arts

If you’re interested in learning about lesser known aspects of Bronx history through unseen documentary footage then attending the Cosmos Gate and Azul II screening is the place to be this Saturday. The event is being held in conjunction with the artist’s survey Bronx Heavens and is free but seating is limited so reserving a spot sooner rather than later is suggested.

BxPE Farmers Market & CSA: 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Brady Playground

This Sunday at Brady Playground marks the beginning of the BxPE farmers market. The market will contain vendors selling fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs, as well as flowers, honey, baked goods and much more. The event is fun for the whole family and adds more enjoyment to buying produce that is unheard of at a normal supermarket. Soundview Butterfly Meditation Garden Planting Days: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at 1550 Lafayette Ave.

The Soundview Butterfly Meditation Garden is in need of renovation and is looking for volunteers. If you like planting flowers and plants, and just helping your local community then attending the event is the place to be. The event is free and is perfect for those with a green thumb or those who are looking for a fun way to pass the time.
