Superstorm Sandy propelled the Harlem River inland in the South Bronx, turning Third Avenue into a canal and flooding the low-sitting Bruckner Bar & Grill hard by the Third Avenue Bridge.
The popular Port Morris hangout lost at least $15,000 in beer and liquor alone from storm damage to the dining room, bar and basement, general manager Joseph Diaz said at the time.
A year later, with restaurant owners fighting with the landlord over repair costs, the popular hangout has been renovated but remains shuttered.
Garcia said last month the restaurant was only a health inspection and renewed liquor license away from reopening. Fans are still waiting.
