Trip Abroad

One local youth from the borough got to take part in all-expense paid trip to Italy and a scholarship after she and her teammate came in first place in a cooking competition at their public high school Food and Finance High School.

Citaly Hernandez, who comes from the Bronx, and her teammate Kayla Jenkins, took part in the Colavita Culinary Challenge in January, winning the grand prize for their Palline di Polenta Fritte Bolognese (Polenta Balls with Bolognese).

As the Grand Prize winners of the Colavita Culinary Challenge, the two were entitled to an all-expense paid trip to Italy and a $2500 scholarship courtesy of Colavita, an Italian foods company with its US headquarters in Edison, NJ.

The other eight competition finalists received $500 scholarship awards.
