Notable Passing

Sr. Kathleen McCann, a Sister of the Divine Compassion, died peacefully on Saturday, December 8.

Born in 1930, as a young woman she attended St. Frances de Chantal School. McCann was a longtime librarian at Preston High School, a position she began in 1967. She also taught school at several Westchester County Catholic schools, and was a librarian at St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers, N.Y.

Sr. Laura Donovan, president of the Sisters of Divine Compassion, said: Throughout her life, Sr. Kathleen was a model of gentleness and compassion. Along with her love of her Irish heritage and her family, she loved her ministries in education and was kind and appreciative of the children and the seminarians she served so well.
