100th Birthday
Columba Curcio,
Columba moved to the Bronx from Harlem with her family as a young woman. She still lives in her home in the Soundview area, where she spent the greater part of her teaching career at P.S. 107 on Seward Avenue.
Reading books, newspapers and magazines are her pleasures. So is socializing daily with family and friends via written, phone and e-mail communication. In addition, she goes to her computer twice daily for news, mail and to visit her Italian website for recipes and articles of topical interest.
Until last spring, she attended classes and activities at her professional retiree center. She looks forward to a big celebration of her longevity and vitality on April 12 with her family and circle of friends.
Notable Passing
The Ronda family is sad to announce the passing of its patriarch Osvaldo A. Ronda, known to many as Bob or Bobby.
Born in Manhattan, Osvaldo serviced his country in the United States Marine Corps. from 1953 to 1957. He married Norma Rendina in 1961 and moved to Throggs Neck in 1968. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Norma, his sons Alfred and Joseph, his daughter Aurora and grandchildren Joseph, Sierra, and Jonathan. He was recently cremated. A service was held on Sunday, March 22 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Castle Hill.
