Since 1997, when the Bronx Walk of Fame was created by former Borough President Fernando Ferrer, the Bronx Tourism Council has celebrated the Bronx Ball each year in honor of the Walk’s newest inductees.
The Bronx Walk of Fame exists to honor people from this borough who have found great success in their field. Because there are so many success stories that start in the Bronx, the Bronx Walk of Fame has evolved significantly since the 1990s. In fact, in 2025, the Bronx Walk of
Fame has over 125 street signs on the Grand Concourse reflecting the names of Bronx-based, widely known celebrities.
Current Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson presented the idea of a People’s Choice Award in 2023 to get Bronxites involved in the selection of local heroes who warrant celebrity status for their impactful work in the community. In 2024, the Bronx Economic Development Corporation (BXEDC) and Bronx Tourism Council had the Walk of Fame signs replaced to make the Walk of Fame truly shine.
In 2025, the BXEDC and Bronx Tourism Council developed an app for the Bronx Walk of Fame to further its reach and allow users to virtually “walk” the Walk of Fame.
The Bronx Walk of Fame is a renowned tourist attraction and an educational resource of Bronx history for both outside visitors and local residents alike. That is why we want you to join us at the Bronx Ball on May 17 from 6 p.m.-11 p.m. at the Hutchinson Metro Center (1720 Eastchester Rd.). Join us to honor these new inductees and for dinner, dancing and fun as we end Bronx Week 2025.
