Cohan, Gus Edwards and Nora Bayes. Our Tin Pan Alley Tour will give a glimpse into what has become a worldwide cultural force – pop music. Join Woodlawn’s Director of Historical Services Susan Olsen and Director of the Tin Pan Alley American Popular Music Project George Calderaro for a unique Trolley Tour that will explore the popular music publishing center of the world, and the brilliant composers, performers, and “pluggers” who made Tin Pan Alley. There will be singing on the Trolley! To purchase tickets,  click here.

Victor Goines’ “The Woodlawn Suite” CD

The sounds of Madam C. J.  Walker strutting down the street, Dorothy Parker raising a glass, and Cicely Tyson whispering to Miles Davis are all part of “The Woodlawn Suite”— Victor Goines’ 13 movement work celebrating the lives of New Yorkers at rest at Woodlawn. Commissioned by The Woodlawn Conservancy to create a modern memorial, the award-winning saxophonist and composer created these biographical sketches that link listeners to the lives of those who transformed our culture. The fabulous songs of “The Woodlawn Suite” performed by Victor Goines at Dizzy’s Club at Manhattan’s Jazz at Lincoln Center are now available!
