Egg Hunt 2023
April 8, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Visit the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum for their annual Easter egg hunt. Children aged two to 12 can hunt for eggs around the museum’s walled garden and have their photos taken with the Easter Bunny on the first two Saturdays of April. Baskets will not be provided and the cost is $10 per child, but admission for adults is free when accompanied by a child. Register for the event here.

Discovery Hike: Marvelous Mosses

Join the park rangers on an enriching ecology walk to discover interesting facts about moss. Participants will get a closer look at these overlooked, unique plant species and discover how fascinating they actually are.

Bring your kids to Van Cortlandt Park for Kids Week. Children and families are welcome to the park to view some interactive and educational nature-themed puppet shows when they’ll earn more about the variety of animals that can be found in the park.
Kids Week: Stories by the Campfire
April 14, 1 p.m.-2 p.m.
Children and families are invited to gather by the campfire at the Nature Center in Van Cortlandt Park and enjoy an afternoon of story telling and fireside activities. Children will also get to socialize with each other while learning about the park and being entertained.

Arthur Avenue Comedy: Fordham Stand-Up Wednesday
April 5-26, 9 p.m.
Enjoy a night of laughter and entertainment at this exciting stand-up comedy show on Fordham Road. Hear top comedians from popular TV shows, networks and comedy clubs perform long and intimate sets at Clinton Hall every Wednesday. Gardening Tuesday

Spend a Saturday afternoon watching a captivating feature film as part of the library’s Academy Awards Film Fest. “Dunkirk” is a historical war film based on the Battle of Dunkirk that took place during World War II. The movie follows the intense battle and the great efforts undergone to evacuate the Allies from the beaches of Dunkirk.
Academy Awards Film Fest: A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood

Enjoy an afternoon of entertainment watching “A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood” at the City Island Library. Starring Tom Hanks, the movie follows an investigative journalist named Lloyd Vogel who profiles famous television host Mr. Rogers. Rogers and Vogel develop an important relationship that helps Vogel see goodness and kindness in others.

From Page to Screen: April Film Screening

The Bronx Library Center will be screening the film “The War of the Worlds,” based on the book by H. G. Wells. The movie follows scientist Clayton Forrester and Sylvia Van Buren, who are the first people to arrive at the site of a meteorite crash. When an alien war machine emerges from the crash site and begins killing people at random, the protagonists manage to get a sample of an alien’s blood, hoping to discover their weakness and defeat them before they can destroy the world.
Just Craftin’ Around Hour
April 6, 13 and 20, 4 p.m.-5 p.m.
Young adults are welcome to get involved in a weekly entertaining arts and crafts session at the Bronx Library Center. Attendees will get to make their own customized keychains on April 6, create personalized perler bead illustrations on April 13 and make still life drawings using charcoal on April 20.

The Throgs Neck Children’s library staff will be using fun and educational games to challenge children to use the logical and analytical left side of their brain while also incorporating the emotional and imaginative right side of their brain.
