True crime show to feature Kingsbridge girl missing more than a year later

The Discovery Plus television program “In Pursuit with John Walsh” will feature a segment on a missing Bronx minor Wednesday night, according to a press release from Warner Bros. Pictures. 

Melissa Gonan was reported missing more than a year ago, last seen on Kingsbridge Avenue around 8:30 a.m. on April 29, 2021.

The 15-year-old is “believed to be in danger and may be in need of medication,” according to the press release. Gonon is described as 5 feet tall, black hair, brown eyes and weighing around 150 pounds. She was believed to be traveling on foot at the time of her disappearance. 

“In Pursuit with John Walsh” is a true crime series that focuses on bringing fugitives to justice and finding missing children, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children nonprofit corporation. The show relies on tips from community members. 

The show is encouraging viewers with any information about Gonon to call or text 1-833-3-PURSUE, or to submit a form online. According to the release, operators will accept anonymous tips and alert the proper authorities.

The segment on Gonon will air on Investigation Discovery and Discovery Plus at 9 p.m. on Nov. 2.
