For the first time since 2019, Triboro Center had a full-room, large-group Thanksgiving luncheon on Nov. 24 at the 405-bed skilled nursing facility on Teller Avenue in the Bronx. Now that these are post-pandemic times, large-group gatherings at health care institutions are allowed and at nursing facilities like Triboro Center, masks are still mandatory among staff and front-door testing continues to be diligent and required. COVID-19, plus the year’s flu strain and Respiratory Syncytial Virus Infection, also known as RSV are to be taken seriously, especially among the elderly and children.

“Even though we had a Thanksgiving celebration last year, this year was definitely like pre-Covid times,” said Recreation Director Rose Ferreira. “The residents had a great time, the food was great and plentiful, they ate with the staff, just a Thanksgiving like it should be.”

Nevertheless, everyone was safe as the residents had a great time here at Triboro Center this Thanksgiving.
