Talented writers are invited to apply for literary residency

Talented Bronx writers are invited to apply for the 2009-10 Literary Arts Fellowship and Residency, available from The Bronx Writers’ Center (BWC), a program of the Bronx Council on the Arts. Two nine-month fellowships are awarded annually to fiction writers, poets, playwrights and screenwriters who reside in the Bronx. Fellows are awarded $5,000 and are required to complete a community service project as part of a residency at the Bronx Writers’ Center. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on Monday, September 14. There is no entry fee.

An information session for writers interested in applying will be held on Tuesday, August 4, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., at Longwood Art Gallery at Hostos Community College. This information session will focus on the Fellowship application process, with ample time for questions. Applications will be available. This session is also an opportunity to learn more about the Bronx Writers’ Center programs and plans for the future.
