Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson commemorated several exemplary community leaders at last Wednesday, March 30’s ‘Women of Distinction: A Celebration of Women’s HerStory Month’ held at the Mullaly Recreational Community Center. Co-sponsored by Gibson and SCAN New York, this year’s honorees were Rev. Wendy Calderon-Payne, BronxConnect executive director; Leticia Rodriguez-Rosario, superintendent District 9; Musu Drammeh, Cultural African Preservation founder and president; Thomasina Bushby, Community Board 5 secretary and Meisha Ross-Porter, superintendent District 11. Author and vice president of operations for the New York City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Sulma Arzu-Brown and nationally recognized civil rights leaders and anti-violence advocate Tamika Mallory served as the evening’s guest speakers.
