While most of the event was set indoors, attendees braved the rain to go outside and witness the tree lighting and musical performance from the X-Factor Drumline.
There were also several local Bronx leaders on hand for the tree lighting at the mall, located at 200 Baychester Ave. in Co-op City. Among those present were Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, Council Member Kevin C. Riley, State Senator Jamaal T. Bailey and Assemblymember Michael Benedetto.
Families present for the event were also given tickets for free turkeys, which will be distributed outside the mall, near the Christmas tree at the ground level village entrance, on Tuesday, Nov. 26, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
