The Bronx County Chorus, the oldest not-for-profit chorus in the Bronx, will be putting on a special free spring concert performance on Saturday, May 10, at 4 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church of Throggs Neck, located at 3075 Baisley Ave.

Titled “I Hear America Singing,” the concert will take audiences on a musical journey across the United States, spotlighting significant historical events and iconic locations. The program will include special performance numbers and feature guitar accompaniment. Admission is free, though donations are welcomed.

The concert will be led by Director Miles Fellenberg, with Ava Nazar serving as assistant director. Together, they have curated a dynamic program that showcases the versatility of the keyboard alongside the grandeur of the piano. The Bronx County Chorus will also feature guest performances by a flutist and guitarist, adding new dimensions to the ensemble’s sound.

The concert will feature traditional American music such as “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.” Plenty of American poetry, both original and classics like the Emma Lazarus poem, “Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor,” will also be featured, as well as a folk music segment.

Every semester, the Bronx County Chorus performs two outreach concerts and one formal concert. The organization is supported by public funds from the Bronx Council on the Arts, through the New York State Council on the Arts Decentralization Program and from members.
